My HP Pavilion DV9500t the screen just went black all of a sudden. And it happened right when my warranty expired. When you turn on the laptop the screen lights up for about 30 secs but after that the screen flickers and dies. i connected to a external monitor and it works fine. Should i just buy another laptop?

Thats gotta suck! I would suggest looking up the dv9500t on HP parts and see how much a new screen would cost if it comes to that. That'll give you a starting point on wether or not to try and salvage your machine while you wait for suggestions as to how to try and fix your existing screen.

EDIT: Just had a quick look for you, and if it comes to replacing your screen your looking at US$600-$800 for a new screen. See Here

You can pick up a replacement screen on ebay for between 119-149. Also check into the 1 year warranty extension on your model.

It's all over the forums here.
