Has anyone had issues with their DV5 with a Nvidia 9600mGT ? and FPS issues? I am playing DoDS, and for the last while (since I had my DV5 repaired by HP) My FPS in games always drops then comes back up and then drops again. I have installed many drivers with a clean driver install. (Used driver sweeper) I have even went as far as completing a whole system recovery again, to still run into these issues. It has become so bad, It ruins all gaming for me. Anyone have some thoughts? Also, I think i have notice big CPU spikes, which might be causing issues... the specs are in my sig,. Thanks in advance. :)

i don't have my system anymore. but i remember if i was trying to turn up the settings on max it would do that.

1 what games do you have right now we can trouble shoot
in the nvidia control panel set it to performance and see what happens.

Well i have been playing source games. Like dods and what not, but now it is happening while playing videos. The video will play, then randomly within the movie or what ever, it will studder/stop and then continue playing. It is bugging the crap out of me. Since it is a fresh install, I am wondering if it is hardware. My temps while playing the video is lowe. CPU's at 50c and GFX is at 47c. so.. i dunno, but i have to figure it out soon, since the warranty is up in a couple months.

nope. no overclocking on this system. I am going to install windowsXP on a seperate partition on the drive and verify if there is the same issue. :)

Have you tried disabling Powermizer? Sounds like the card is being downclocked while you play.

I don;t have powermizer installed on the system. No, Other GFX enhancement software other then DOX drivers. I have also tried to install windows XP to test there, however I get the BSOD when the options for install come up.. :/

Powermizer is built into Nvidia's drivers. Try downloading this. Run it and click "Powermizer off AC / on battery" and restart. See if you're still having problems after that.

sounds to me like it could also be a background process maxing your cpu periodically. Try temporarily turning off your anti-virus and 3rd party firewall, if you have one, and any other significant background program to see if the issue continues.
