So, I've had my HP Pavillion dv5000 for a few years now, and after crashing on me once, and a 2nd scare, I figured I should make some recovery discs.

Finally getting around to it, I open up the program...only for it to tell me I have to use 21 cds! And it won't let me choose to use DVDs (like I want to). The options are greyed out.

I really really would rather not use 21 cds.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? or is using cds my only option.

I'll see if I can find the answer, but in the meantime I'd suggest contacting HP customer care. :)

EDIT: I found this. http://www.pctechbytes.com/hp-recovery-cd.htm You may try just to put in a dvd and see what happens. :)
If all else fails, you could contact HP and request a set of recovery disks.
