    Hey,

Any HP notebooks users from Malaysia? After hearing a lot of negative stories about HP's customer support, I have to rethink about buying a notebook from them. However most of the horror stories seem to be from the US.

Anybody in Malaysia, or even the south-east asian region, have to deal with customer support over here?

I'd really like to hear some comments, if any.

Have a few friends from SEA and they are quite satisfied with their purchases and have had good dealings with their support in Singapore, I think

As I have mentioned in the other thread, HP's service in Malaysia is great. Just let them know your concerns when you bring it in. It seems HP Malaysia prefers customers to bring in their computers because whenever I call, they'll ask me to bring it in so we can show them the problem. The difference between HP Malaysia and the US/AU/other countries is that the service centre is operated by HP themselves and not outsourced to a 3rd party agent.

chrixx, thanks for a reply again. and yeah, personally I would like to bring it in myself as well. that way i know for sure that somebody is checking my notebook.

Thanks wtm0325, yeah HP towers...lol. cool. the lair of the beast. But seems to be a pretty nice beast so far.

From what i gather, HP offers a very good warranty for their business line of notebooks. I've got a list of questions to ask the HP rep when they call me. with my sony viao option i'd have to pay an extra RM200 for only 1 year international warranty.

    I'm from Malaysia :)

I owned a Compaq Presario X1075AP laptop for three years. During the first year the harddisk died on me. So I brought it to hp at hp Tower in Damansara. hp service at hp Tower is very good. They replaced my faulty harddisk in 2 days. They promised 3 working days.

My laptop had a minor crack on the plastic housing of the LCD at the time. I didn't report it together with the harddisk failure, but they changed it anyway for me :D.

I was quite happy with their service. It was also the deciding factor for me to purchase my current laptop, the hp Pavilion dv6126tx. I was deciding between the Dell Inspiron 6400 and the hp Pavilion dv6126tx.

So don't worry about the service centre in Malaysia. So far so good. For me anyway.

    Greetings from ampang exarkun!

All of a sudden i'm hearing more good things about hp towers (really sounds like something outta a lord of the rings scifi spoof). Maybe HP is just good in Malaysia overall.

The HP rep called me this morning. I asked him what targus backpack they offer, he wasn't sure exactly which model. and warranty, if i didn't miss anything, is 1 year international.

I think there are 2 main HP centres in Malaysia, one in KL (HP Towers) and one in Penang (Crystal Point). Both of them are pretty good so far. The service levels are indeed different depending on which country you're at.
It looks like HP is the leading PC brand in Malaysia judging by the exposure it gets.

Yeah they're quite big here. I've done some temp work at some of the HP events, like resellers night, or awards night, those are usually the 2 big ones with quite a sizable crowd.
