    Hi guys,

So my 8730 order is being given insane delays (more than a month) and nobody seems to be able to tell me why. All they say is that the factory has said there is a "material shortage" of some kind. Sales shows that all the parts I ordered are available, nothing backordered, can't see why there would be a delay. But Support is telling me the order is delayed, first until the end of Feb., now mid March.

Anybody seen this before? Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

I've been trying to get a functioning workstation since July 2008! :(

Anyone know if I should be waiting this out or not?

The specs on the system were:
    QX9300 Quad Core
    Quadro FX3700
    8GB RAM
    1920x1200 DreamColor

along with the other various miscellanea.

Issue still unresolved. HP is still unable or unwilling to tell me what is causing the delay or if a different parts selection would ship faster. They can't tell me what stage of production it's in or anything. Because of that I can't make an educated estimate whether the unit will ship within a reasonable time.

Basically they are jerking me around with the same old circle I got when they shipped my other laptop into Hurricane Ike.

    1: Apologize
    2: Offer to escalate
3: Say that now it's escalated it will be in the next few days
    (days pass)
    4: goto 1.

As far as I can tell they are trying to lead me on by repeatedly missing a series of shorter deadlines. It's like they think telling someone to wait for three days, five times, is easier than telling them to wait for 15 days.

This is the second time, in two HP orders, that they have flat-out lied to me to get or keep my business. I can't even reach them today. Their phone system appears to be broken, just as it was when I started having issues with the previous unit last year.

At this point I seriously doubt I want to do business with this company.
