I have the same card, with 2 GB. Playing on very high settings (everything max), except for MSAA off. In indoors (rooms, etc) I get 60 fps and in outdoors approximately 30 fps (the lowest was 24 fps for a few seconds). 8.95.5 drivers. I'm really pleased how Rockstar games had optimized this game, impressive.

It runs great. Mine's not as great as prebuss's one but enough for playing with the smoothness of consoles with much more realistic graphics. 720p resolution.

    I have 4gb ram, 1gb 6770m and an I3.

Yep, it is playable :) I have almost finished Max Payne 3 with these settings, the last chapter left. Temperatures didn't increase higher than 80 degrees Celsius. Drivers 8.95.5 (Download from here: AMD Catalystâ„¢ driver version 8.95.5)
The only thing you wouldn't like to enable is MSAA, even when I set it to 2X, frames drop constantly to 20fps. Anyway, as I said, this game is greatly optimized, at least for 6770m :)

I need to overclock the videocard for getting 30 stable fps on the first mission.

But it is true that the first mission demands much more resources than the next 4 or 5 missions. The one shows xAcid9 runs really great.

For Achmed, you have enough system for playing the game even full settings except filters.

PD: the first game that makes my gpu temp up to 75º

I'm on leshcat's 12.3 up2 and I'm experiencing some tearing even with vsync set to on (on the game and ccc). Only way to get rid of it is to minimize and maximize back the window (alt+tab) but sometimes happen I need to do it more than once because tearing reappears. Do you have the same problem too?

I just got it and im playing in dx11 with everything high except fxaa and msaa off and getting 40fps. Im using 12.3 but thinking about installing leshcat 12.2 up5 since with 12.3 there is overheating. @Eug89 i didnt notice any screen tearing ,only in cutscenes since i was getting over 300fps

    i have 12.6 cap1 installed.

but i'm using 12.2 driver. Microstutter all over the place, especially while panning camera.

The thing is, I have AMD system monitor open on my 2nd screen, and during xfire, the gpu's are only being used 60%.
I'd rather have 100% load on my dgpu. Much smoother.

Hi! How can you do 60 fps in indoors? I'm playing the chapter IV and when i'm in the bar i do max 45 fps (average fps is 32-35), and when i go out i do 25-30 fps (i'm using your same settings and i've your same specs). Sorry for my bad english :)

    Which drivers do you use?
I hadn't had 60 fps in indoors every time. It depends on chapter. I can't remember right now in which chapter I have had 60 fps. It was a mission with sniper rifle (in a small room) and I had to shoot many bas*ards who were outside through the window.

Yes, a lot. Install 8.95.5 AMD drivers. There are lots of guides how to install drivers with switchable graphics. Just search in this forum. (HP Pavilion section).

I have noticed really big differences of performance between some indoors missions. There are 60fps stable outdoor missions too. Think about the SSAO and HBAO.

In fact, you cand find FPS drops in some rooms while in the next room you play stable 60 fps.

Nope, some people say that leshcat's 12.2 drivers are better, well, personally, I prefer official 8.95.5 (not leshcat's) drivers :) They are a little bit newer with better fps, although it won't have newer Intel HD graphics, which I don't ever use, unless I need to work without AC, on battery.

If you use 8.95.5 drivers, you can find this option in (Fixed mode, default AMD GPU): Right mouse button on desktop->Graphics Properties->Preferences, select Advanced View. Click on "Gaming" tab->3D Application Settings. You can disable/enable that option under Tessellation box.

I found out that the only way to get rid off the tearing is to force vsync and triple buffering with d3doverrider. It's strange though that I'm the only one that needs to use it...

Been playing Max Payne without any troubles, but it started bugging out on me at around chapter 10. I have the 6750m.

Without trying to spoil anything, it goes like this: I finish killing the enemies and it goes to a cutscene where the girl walks down the stairs and stands next to a door. Camera goes back to me. While I go closer to her and the door, it gets locked into walking, probably another cutscene when I open the door. However when I open the door, I see nothing but empty space. I even see some parts of the level as if I have a no-clip cheat from Doom.

All hell breaks lose after I try to press ESC to quit. The game crashes and I'm unable to ALT+TAB. CTRL+SHIFT+ESC doesn't bring up task manager. Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL to load the menu takes a while to load, showing me something like "Security options validating..." or something. This one time, it showed "Failure to display security and shut down options. The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DEL was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch." Ever since I've started using computers, this is the first time that I have ever seen that message. I'm just trying to wrap that around my head - my ctrl+alt+del just crashed on me.

Then sometimes I get successful. Task manager finally shows up and I end-task Max Payne. But it's not over. Soon after, my Firefox starts crashing. It takes minutes just to open task manager again to end-task Firefox. Then after that, explorer crashes (not IE, such as, not able to click Start button, open folders...). Then soon after, my mouse freezes and my caps/num/scroll locks don't respond.

It's not a 1 time thing. I've repeated it multiple times, and it happens in that same exact order every time.

And if I sit still and not kill the enemies to initiate the cutscene? The music starts to stutter and repeat like a broken record, and the game would eventually crash.
