    I have a Hp dv2310us with AMD turion64 x2 1.60ghz processor and a Nvidia geforce go 6150 graphics running 32-bit VISTA.
    Do anybody know how much RAM(maximum possible RAM) my computer can hold. I know the limit for any 32-bit OS is about 3.2gigs and i know 2 gig RAM sticks will "fit" into the 2 slots for my RAM. I wont to know if my computer has a limit of only 2 gigs due to the motherboard or something.
    And how can i know the kind of motherboard my pc has in Vista??

    Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.

    That is the info I got from Crucial.com. So your max is only 2GB. This all I can said for now.

    With the latest BIOS, it unlocks the 4gb support. Im not sure if this also applies to AMD models

    HP is very slow with their documentation and support. They will probably tell you NO because thats what they will see on paper

    Most dv2000 users were able use up to 4gb aslong as they downloaded the latest BIOS which unlocked the 4gb support. I cannot guarantee it though since it was mostly intel models.Try searching around this section to see if also applies for AMD

    You can always return the RAM if it doesnt work

    i did search around this site and google. Most of the reviews are old and said nothing about RAM limit. I have a weak processor and a weak graphic card so i figured i will get as much RAM as possible to compensate a little, plus for an additional $15 more i can get 4 gig RAM instead of 2gigs...
    More opinions please..

    Thanks.

    I downloaded CPU-Z and here is what is says;
    CPU:
    Name; AMD turion 64 X2 Mobile Tl-52
    Code name; Trinidad Brand ID: 2
    Package: socket s1 (638) technology: 90nm.

    Motherboard;
    Manufacturer; Wistron Model: 30B5 62.61
    Chipset: Nvidia Bois version: f.39 current memory bandwidth: PC3 5300 (333MHZ)!!!!!
    There is more information but i don't think they are relevant for the above question.

    No where does it say the maximum RAM my pc can hold. :(
    Still waiting on more advice... will check Hp website and see the changes that were made for all bois upgrade.

    I will check if we have the exact same motherboard. If we do, chances are 4gb will work aslong as you have the latest BIOS update

    I only remember having a Winstron board, ill compare it in detail when i get home from work

    Hi, i'm using compaq f500 series, Quanta board, Turion 64x2 TL56, geforce go6100. Currently using 3gb ram even though HP says only support 2gb. I believe yours can support more than 2gb.

    Flipfire, still waiting to hear from you.
    trdspec86, your board in Qunata, mine is Wistron... that could mean a lot of difference.
    I checked Hp's website, there is no information about the changes they made for new bois. and i have the latest bois verson.

    Sorry but mines a different board. Its a Winstron 30CE

    If TRD's older board supports 4gb chances are yours will too..

    HP never put down the RAM support in the bios documentation

    this might somewhat help http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=225597& (dv2000/6000 are very similar)
