Please do not ever get this option. It is not worth the money. It is not better, it is worse. It is a horrible operating system that is quite buggy and slow, it is quite incompatible with many programs, and doesn't really work to begin with. It is even worse to troubleshoot. Quite useless anyways, why on earth would you buy a portable computer that you leave hooked up to your tv??? Buy a tivo, they are much better. If you insist on buying it, please also buy a box of Extra Strength Motrin, you will need it by the time you try to get it properly. Just the name alone is enough to set my fellow agents and I into fits of uncontrolable nervous twitches. If you call us, prepare for several hours of troubleshooting. There is no such thing as an easy issue with Media Center.

It's Microsoft's attempt to integrate home entertainment with their XP OS. Allows you to use your notebook as an entertainment system.

    Here's Microsoft's Link:

Windows XP Media Center Edition is an option availible on some our our customized notebooks. It basicly has an external tv tuner/video capture card and a remote and specialized operating system. It is horrible, quirky, doesn't do much(records only from the channel that you are watching, and not very well at that), makes your computer slow(and incompatible with many programs), and is a real b**** to set up. If you want the biggest and the best, this is not it, just the most expensive. If you want the biggest and the best, get a zd7000 cto, with the biggest video card, the most ram, ms office, 60gb 7200rpm drive, biggest processor, xp pro (because Hyperthreading is not actually used with xp home, at least not on our notebooks anyways), brightview screen, DON'T get the dvd writer(it only writes a 2x), extra battery and the 3yr adp warranty
