My MediaSmart just stopped working. I have tried system restore to a point where I knew they worked. I have redownloaded the updates from HP for MediaSmart, Quicklaunch, and BIOS. None of those made a difference. I just continue getting the error -

"HP MediaSmart SmartMenu has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

Of course - HP does not offer the full software anywhere I can find. Any ideas?

which model is that? EX-series? If so, you think you could install new WHS by setup CD.

No setup CD's are included but you do realize you have to burn the restore CD's on your own using the HP recovery disc creator software. In any case, if you are still using the stock HP OS installation there should a folder on your hard drive containing the installation files for all of the preinstalled software on your system. It is usually located at C:\SWSetup\ and you should see several folders and one of them should contain the installation files for the mediasmart software.

Yep, talked to support - have to do a full refresh - they can't tell me it wont happen again. That couple with some other issues this computer has/ had and I'm sending it back. Hopefully they will let me exchange, but I'm not keeping this one - too many problems for 21 days.

It's not that great, but I use it for my TV tuner, and it was nice to use for the volume controls.
