Anybody know why Consumerreports.org says the memory cannot be replaced by the user in a DV9500z? It does not say this for the DV9500t. I think it is an error. I just bought a DV9500z and was planning on replacing the RAM, can someone confirm that it's possible, and easy? Thanks.

Might be in the consumerreports site where you need to be logged in. But trust me, it's there.

They are idiots, Ram can be easily replaced on the laptop. Below is the link to HP's guide to replacing the RAM, it will take you 2-5 minutes tops. Also, remember that the max speed of supported RAM for HP's laptops is 667Mhz, which I believe is PC5300 and PC5400.

True. I do not see any reason why the memory cannot be upgraded.
