I have a HP Dv7-1000 (specs in sig) laptop that is still running strong but I would like to upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB. Does anyone have any advice for where to get cheap memory that will work with my machine?

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply! I'm trying to figure out my RAM type. I think it's DDR2 PC2-6400 laptop memory. Prices on ebay for 8GB seem to be about $150. Wish it was a bit more affordable for the upgrade.

Unfortunately for you memory no longer produced will cost more that is Business 101 Supply/Demand...supply goes down and price goes up.....I used 4 Gigs DDR2 in laptop with no problems finding 8gigs is expensive to say the least. Stick with 4gigs total and you should be fine.
