HP Pavilion Notebook PC with AMD Athlon™ XP Processor 2800+

    Processor Brand AMD
    Processor Type Athlon™ XP
    Processor Speed 2.133GHz
RAM (MB) 256MB 266MHz DDR SDRAM
RAM Expandable To (MB): 1024MB DDR SDRAM

For the above notebook can somebody tell me which memory should I use. I was told to use PC2700 memory card. Will there be compatibility issues if I use something else? Can somebody comment on this please.

PC2100 (266MHz) or better should work, but you might as well buy PC2700 (333MHz) at this point so you'll have the option of using it on a newer machine later. Your notebook will run it at PC2100 speed regardless.

if you go to www.crucial.com or www.oempcworld.com you can input what system you have and it will tell you what RAM to get.
