    Hello all,
I just bought an HP DV6448se on a recent trip to the US. I am experiencing a quite extrange fenomenon with the machine that I would like to share and ask for any advice. The HD memory gets lower and lower without instaling new softwares, downloading or any other commom action that ocupies space in the HD. I wonder if this has anything to do with Vista or if this can be some kind of problema with the machine. Does anyone here observed the same? Sorry if my english is not clear...I hope I made sense...
    Thank you all

Vista Takes space for recovery points. As a new one it might be still increasing, at some point it should stop increasing because it will get rid of old.

i had the same problem vistas set to use 15% of your hd space for restore points and shadow copies on my 160 gig hd it was using 20 gigs for recovery points ts rediculas there already is a great thread on this telling you
    1. how to delete them except for the latest one
    2. how to set the amout of hd space vista will use for resore points/ shadow copies.

    here is the link
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=147542

but to make it easier than reading ill summarize

    im quoting TomTom2007

this is to delete what vista has already used

"Yes, it's definitely the System Restore wasting your space, and also Shadow Copies. To check, go ahead and do a Disk Cleanup.

Apply to both Vista and XP:

Start - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup - Select your current Hard Drive (Should be default C: )

After it's done calculating, a new window will pop out, click on "More Options" tab at top, then you will see the section of "System Restore and Shadow Copies", then click on "Clean Up..." and confirm "Delete"

Caution: Do NOT click on "OK" to close the window, Click on "Cancel"

And now go and check your disk space and see if you have gained more space or not."

then sanpabloguy posted this link telling you how to chage the amunt of space vistas can actually use for its restore files and shadow copies

i hope you guys dont mind being quoted i just want to give you the credit
