Hello,
Need some help![]()
I want to make an upgrade to my 2 years old hp dv4246ea, it has a centrino platform and has support for ddr2 533mhz. I looked at the market and these memory types 533 are hard to find, would a ddr2 667 pair of modules work on this platform i mean if the modules will throttle down automatically to 533. Sorry if it is a stupid question.
Thank you

It will downclock to 533, but I don't see how they are hard to find. Where do you live?

Check that link (if you're in the US). There are plenty of 533 ram, from 256mb to 2gb. -
Lots of DDR2 533 memory here (if you're in the US - if you're in Canada check out tigerdirect.ca):

In any case, as already noted, 667 will run at 533 so just get the cheaper ones. Looks like about $50-$75 for a pair of 1 gig modules; go for it! -
i live in Romania and there are 2 dealers which whom i work they don't have the 533 memory on stock an only 667, they have an corsair value kit 2x 1gb sticks for 74$, the 533 being only 10$ cheaper.
Anyway the day the notebook dyes i can get memory out and put them in the new one. Thank's for the info
