I have ddr memory from my dell laptop that I sold. Is there any way to use it in this laptop even at a big performance lost? If not can i get 512ddr2 533 and use with the 256ddr2 400 speed that the laptop comes with. I know it wont be dual chanel and would operate at the slower speed but would it work? Thank you for the help.

After thinking for a minute, I don't think it will work. DDR2 runs on 1.8 volts and DDR runs at 2.5 volts. Here is where I found the PC 2700...which also runs on 2.5 volts. Hmmmm, donno!

I'm thinking if you use the 400 with the 533MHz it should work but run at 400MHz and you might not have dual channel support, you won't if they are not the same size. As far as your dell memory...what is it? is it a 200pin Sodimm? I've seen PC 2700 advertised for the X6000. I had a friend that wanted a 256MB module for his Dell, we took it out of my older HP PC 2100, it wouldn't run. So I'm not sure, I think you would have to try it. I will also add that this is still a pretty new system so all different types of memory and memory mixing hasn't been tried. I can only say that Kingston DDR2 PC4200 1 gig modules work flawlessly in my X6000
