Hi,
I would like to upgrade RAM from 1GB to 2GB, but I am not sure if my laptop uses normal memory, or it is something special produced only for HP? I've almost bought Kingstons KVR667D2S5/1G (unfortunately I can't post links yet). But then I searched a little on Kingston web-page and saw that they suggest KTH-ZD8000A/1G. The thing that bothers me is that, in compatibility tab for KTH-ZD8000A/1G there are only HP laptops, so I thought that maybe they use something special.
So is the only difference between these two modules only frequency?
I have searched a little this forum and didn't find any information that would confirm that HP memory is not regular, but I would like to be 100% sure before buying it.

Hi Welcome to NBR
The nx8220 only accepts DDR ram. DDR2 ram will not work nor even fit into the slot.
Download CPU-z and post a screenshot of the Memory and SPD tabs.

Flipfire I think you are wrong, it uses DDR2. I am using PC wizard, here:

is screenshot of ram characteristics (again like for url, I can't post picture because of too few posts).
But there doesn't exist any special ram modules for HP laptops? Any 200 pin SODIMM DDR2 module would fit? -
you can go ddr2 533 mhz and up to 2 gigs.
i have one of these models.

ahh yes you are correct. I thought the nx8220 was like my compaq m2000.
But anyway yes there is no special HP RAM. Nearly all ram these days run on the JEDEC standard.
Yes any DDR2 200pin SO-dimm will fit.
Memory upgrade on nx8220
