Greetings,
I have an HP dv5t Notebook with a wireless card, Belkin. I dont know much about wireless adapters so it figures I would screw this up. I was trying to play with it to see if I could turn my wireless connection into working with my Xbox 360 (long story). To simplify things, I went into the Belkin standard IP address for utilities and enabled a "local access point." Since then, I have been unable to access internet or even access the Belkin menu to disable what I did!
Help please!!

I did the exact same thing and got the exact same problem before.
At that time, I had another laptop connected to the Internet, and since the router has become a local access point, it was able to connect to the Internet. Using that laptop, I was able to restore the factory settings of the router to get rid of whatever I did.
If the above doesn't work, or you don't have another laptop, you could try using a pin to push the tiny reset button on the back of the router. Press and hold it for at least 10 seconds to make sure the router gets the message and resets itself. -
Ahh, so there IS a reset button... Whew! I am at work now but hopefully when I get home that'll do the trick. Where is the router located on the laptop exactly? Thanks!

Wait...your router is inside the laptop?!
I have never heard of a router that exists inside a laptop. What I did was go to the physical router (usually found hooked up near a modem) and, by using a pin, poke the reset button at the back of the router.
Routers don't exist in laptops. You may be confusing wireless cards (technically called Wireless Network Interface Card) for routers. -
Ahh I knew it was too good to be true. Yep this is the wireless card. I was tinkering with fire, I didnt really understand what I was doing. Essentially I was playing around trying to figure out how to convert my wireless signal into something my Xbox could get via an Ethernet hookup. I opened up the utility screen for the Belkin adapter and "enabled" it as a local access point. Probably not what I should have done, as once I did that I could no longer access my utilities screen to disable the local access point and I cant get internet either. So there is no way to reset a wireless card back to its factory setting??

Are you talking about the internal wireless card that came built into the computer, or about a separate aftermarket wireless adapter that you plug into a slot on the computer?

I think he is trying to make his laptop a wireless bridge for his xbox 360. First of all there was no need to get another wireless card since you have one already built into the laptop. You dont even need any other software windows can do that for you. Heres a youtube video that tells you what to do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpBOnPB1jMU
Messed with Belkin adapter on dv5t, how do I reset or fix?
