It looks like my brand new zv6000 does not have a built-in microphone. It is quite unfortunate - i'm used to it from ThinkPad I had some time ago, and I'd like to use Skype with the notebook.
Can anyone recommend an affordable and compact microphone (possibly without wires at all) ? I've searched the web but have found nothing so far.
    Thanks

A visit to local Fry's did not bring anything - the only kinds of microphones they have are for desktops - either with stand or on-monitor adhesive, both with long wire.
Alternative would be a headset (which will double as headphones for music listening), but foldable ones are quite expensive.
It sounds like a good idea for a start-up :) - travel microphones (similar to USB notebook lights)

If you have Bluetooth, a Bluetooth headset is a plausible option... if the HP Bluetooth drivers support the headset profile. (Or use the usual Bluetooth dongle and hope they supplied competent drivers.) If you know anyone with a Bluetooth cell phone headset you can borrow, give it a try. Alternatively, I've been happy with my Plantronics USB headset, and there are various other USB headsets out there. You can't beat a USB noise-cancelling mic for audio quality. I'm told I sound better using my DSP500 on Skype than I do on my cell phone (I bought some SkypeOut time, very neat service).
