After update to Vista SP1, the dual microphones on my new presario no longer works (very low levels, and high noise). I have checked all the obvious settings (level to 100% etc) and suspect the problem is related to the conexant HD audio drivers (search on the web indicates this is an old problem).

I have tried both the latest drivers from hp support site (4.31.1.0 and the optional driver download from microsoft update (4.36.07) to no avail.
    Here is my sound configuration:
    Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221
    Hardware ID: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30D6&REV_1000
    Manufacturer ID: 1
    Product ID: 100
    Type: WDM
    Driver Name: CHDRT32.sys
    Driver Version: 4.36.0007.0000 (English)
    Driver Attributes: Final Retail
    WHQL Logo'd: Yes

    Can anyone please help?
