Alright, had my HP Envy 15 for quite some time now. I'm loving it to death, but there is one thing that has been bothering me. Minecraft crashes the graphics driver for the Radeon HD 7690M. I don't want to play it with the other graphics driver. I have it set to fixed and the problem persists. Any ideas?

Could you please test Minecraft on your own HP Envy's, and tell me if it runs smoothly. If it does I'll send it back in for repair. Thank you for the cooperation.

Your PC should have no problem running Minecraft. Right now, Dirt3 is doing the same thing to me, but I can run Skyrim with no problems. Make sure your display drivers are up to date or your Minecraft files aren't corrupted. I'll let you know if I fix my own problem.

Edit: Fixed by repairing the game with the disc.

I have reinstalled, uninstalled, and installed various other drivers. There is a driver for the 6680 I believe that it works but at like 50fps. For the split seconds on running Minecraft on the official drivers I'm up to 300fps. I have the most recent Java 64bit installed.

I have done an HP factory reset and I have reinstalled minecraft quite a few times. However, I"m just about to go through all the steps once again.

Minecraft actually doesn't crash, just the video driver. Of course when the video driver recovers minecraft isn't rendering anymore.

Minecraft + Optifine Multi-Core + HD Texture Pack broke my 7690M XT driver TWICE FOREVER and only fix was reinstalling windows. Temperatures did not even exceed 80 degrees but the card started having glitches everywhere - desktop, browser, you name it...

I did not know what caused the problem the first time around but then after I did a clean install and about a week later into the clean install, I ran minecraft with those settings and it broke the card again with same symptoms (flashing pixels everywhere and graphical glitches whenever the AMD card is involved - the intel card worked fine). Resintalling drivers does not fix the graphics at all and only fix I know is reinstalling windows... which is very fun -.-

Now I run minecraft with no mods. I dont know what the problem with the 7690M XT is but my Envy 14 used to run it with everything just fine.

I don't think it had to do with my graphics card at all, its HP and there crappy drivers. I can get it to work by using out of date drivers but then I lose performance. I love minecraft and I would love to enjoy it on my nice HP Envy 15.

From what I understand, you can use updated graphics drivers on the Envy 15. You need the HP drivers installed first and then install the new drivers over them.

Could you elaborate on what exactly you're talking about? Like using different ATI Catalyst versions?

What is your performance drop on other games? I don't want to lose too much, I'm already scraping the barrel with full graphics on some games.

Try these: AMD Catalyst 12.2 Preview Driver download from Guru3D.com
They're the 12.2 Drivers for the 6700m and 6600m cards. much newer than the 11.2 drivers.

It's not that the GPU can't play certain games... It's bad driver support...
But for now I'm using the drivers for 6700 and 6600m which isn't a big difference. If I place this notebook on max performance it doesn't disappoint me... but the fact that it doesn't have stable drivers "annoys" me....
