I've been trying to upgrade the hard drive in my 1151NR, but have so far been unsuccessful.

I can hear the replacement drives turn on, but they aren't recognized by the BIOS.

Could this be a BIOS or cable problem?

Anyone done this successfully? (ImportJunky, are you reading this?)

    Thanks in Advance...

I've been trying to upgrade the hard drive in my 1151NR (from the 80G Hitachi to a Toshiba MK1231GAL), but the BIOS doesn't recognize the drive.

Has anyone tried this? Do I need a different cable? Is it a BIOS problem?

Might be a limit in BIOS. They were only sold with 60 and 80 GB HDDs. And netbooks have Microsoft imposed limitations. Seeing that, HP may have even gone so far as to whitelist either capacity or HDD brand/type in BIOS.
