I've tried two different W7 discs, but the Broadcom WLAN won't work. It worked with the original HP bloat install.

It can't find ANY networks, the list is empty and there's a red cross over the meter, just like when WLAN is disabled by a button.
Only after resuming from standby it will find the net works for a while, maybe 1 - 10 minutes, then they all disappear.

The device manager says it's working as it should.
    Installing QL buttons doesn't help.
I've tried changing the power settings and the driver settings, but nothing helps.
Battery or power cord makes no difference, and I've tried both MS and HP drivers.
I've checked the antenna connectors at the network card, and it looks ok.

I have never seen this kind of problem before, and I'm very confused. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hate to say it, but sounds like it could be a hardware problem.

Try installing the HP Junktastic Windows and see if it works there.

Install HP Wireless Manager so you can press the "wlan antenna ON" button.

Not everything labeled "HP" is bloatware :) I have exactly same thing on couple of my own laptops... except they didn't work after standby either.

You could do system recovery to original install to rule out hardware issues.

    Thanks for your help!

I wanted to use an install disc with lots of unused features removed (5 GB installed), but neither this or an original disc would play nice with WLAN.
HP Wireless Manager didn't change anything, and it's not needed to use the WLAN button, but QL is. Installed QL too but that didn't help either.
I even copied the drivers from the swsetup folder in the HP install and used them with my own installs, didn't work.

I ended up using the recovery discs and choose the minimum install option (dunno what's it called in english), highly recommended.
The original install used something like 55 GB (including recovery partition), after using the discs I had something like 13 GB (incl. 4 GB swsetup)

It's not my netbook and it's running fine now. :)
