    Greetings all,

I have an HP Mini 311 that I ordered with the WWAN module as a factory option. It happens to be the Qualcomm Gobi module.

It worked correctly with the factory install of Windows XP, but I have upgraded to the final release of Windows 7 (32 bit, of course), and HP apparently does not have drivers for Windows 7 yet, no Vista drivers either.

I have tried the published work-arounds I can find, including the post on the Windows Mobile Broadband team which seemed to work for some. This involved using the XP WWAN drivers and a registry hack, etc. It didn't work for me.

Apparently, the Gobi module loads firmware on the fly, and I guess Windows 7 implementations just haven't been devised yet. I remain confident HP will eventually address this, but I would like to use my investment now.

    So, my questions are:

    1. Does anyone else have it working under Windows 7? If so, how did you do it?

    2. Has anyone tried swapping out the Gobi module with another mini-pci module, such as the Dell 5530? I heard a rumor that HP somehow prevents the use of other modules. Is this true?

    Thanks for any advice,

    -Rob
