I currently have a single external monitor hooked up to my Envy 14 with an HDMI cable. The monitor runs at 1920x1080. I have another (identical) monitor, and tried hooking it up to the Envy 14 as well, with a Dynex Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. However, while that did work (somewhat), it was limited to (IIRC) 1680x1050 resolution. I later learned that the only way to output at 1920x1080 with a mDP to VGA adapter is if I used a powered adapter.

What I'm wondering now is if I could use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to run the second monitor at 1920x1080. I tried purchasing an adapter locally (at Best Buy - pretty much the only option around here), but they were sold out. Before I order one, does anyone know if this will work? If not, what's the cheapest way to run a second external monitor off of the Envy 14?

I bought a generic mDP>HDMI adapter from Fry's and it did run 1920x1080.
