Also, here is my Mini Bluetooth Mouse Review
And my Mini Psp Review
I received my hp dv6000t on Friday, Feb 2. I picked it up from the FedEx place. I took it home and took some pictures as i opened it. Here they are:
first pic | second pic | third pic | fourth pic | fifth pic | sixth pic | seventh pic
The specs of my laptop are:
Media Center | Core 2 Duo 1.66 ghz | 1024MB RAM | 80GB HD | 256MB 7400 GPU | Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support | 15.4" BrightView Widescreen | HP Imprint Finish | 2 Mics | Built-In Webcam | Wireless w/ Bluetooth | 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery | HP ExpressCard Analog TV Tuner
After ALL payments, including tax, S&H, and recycling fee, it can out to be about $1150 with the mail in rebate. It also comes with a rebate for a free printer.
After I opened my package, I was completely blown away. The HP imprint finish looked wonderful, and it was completely shiny and glossy all over the notebook. As I set up the laptop, I plugged it in and started Windows. Everything worked very smooth and fast. What can I say? It was wonderful! (Although you can consider the fact that I am used to using a crappy Dell laptop with 128 mb of ram, and I was forced to use safe mode every time i went on it)
I tried out many programs running at once, and it worked very smoothly. I also tried out Half Life 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, and Flight Simulator X. HF2 and UT04 worked outstanding, everything was smooth. FSX was ok... it ran smoothly but i personally did not like this demo.
The webcam and 2 microphones were awesome. I tried out video chat immediately on msn messenger, and it exceeded my expectations. I also tried out the 2 mics which also seemed to work perfectly. I also took some pictures with the 1.3 mp webcam, which was descent. I was completely satisfied with these supposedly low quality pictures. This is all I need.
The touch buttons above the keyboard are very cool. At first they made an annoying beeping sound which i soon disabled in the BIOS. These buttons are perfect for music lovers like me. You are able to turn up the sound, mute it, change songs, pause and stop it, watch dvd's, and start quickplay from these buttons.
I tried out Quickplay. All you have to do is press the touch sensitive Quickplay button when the computer is off. It turns it on JUST for quickplay. So, it starts up faster and is more efficient if you are just wanted to listen to music. I personally would rather just start the whole computer before listening to music, but i would understand why people like this feature. Quickplay is a music lover's paradise.
The speakers are good, the brightview 15.4 inch screen is wonderful, and the imprint finish is beautiful. It is a little heavy, and has poor battery life. These are the only 2 bad things i could find with this computer. This is overall a wonderful computer for entertainment seekers, and I am completely overjoyed with my purchase.

EDIT:
You may have heard bad things about the keyboard and the touch pad, but both work wonderfully and smooth. Also, the left and right click buttons do not necessarily feel "cheap." I like the feel because it give you a firm press, but not a loud clicked sound. Also, the scroll feature on the touch pad is another plus. That's all i could think of to say for now, ill edit it with more info when I think of it...![]()
Just to let you know, i also bought these items along with my lappy:
notebook case | headphones | BT mouse
I am completely happy with all 3 of these items and I would definitely recommend them.![]()

Im glad that everything has gone well. I am looking to get one in a couple of weeks with 2.o GHz processor, 2 gb ram (maybe, may just upgrade with aftermarket RAM), etc. How was the Tv Tuner? Im not sure if i wanna get HP's Tuner or order one from else where? Lastly How long does you battery last on average? Im debating on 6 or 12 cell...or just get a 6 cell and maybe order another off ebay. Well Enjoy your NICE system! And thanks for the review...It has set my decision in stone on getting one.

1) I have not tried out the tv tuner yet. You have to have a tv outlet to hook it up, and it comes with a remote, tuner, cords, etc. This was a free upgrade. I would not have spent like $150 for this, but if you really do want to watch tv on you computer then by all means get it. I feel that this is unnecessary and is not worth the money, time, and effort.
2) My battery lasts i think about 2-3 hours. I havent timed it and acually saw exactly how long it lasts. I think this amount of time is completely ok, unless you are a traveling business man who is always on the go away from an outlet. If you really do need more battery life, then you should get the 12 cell batter; it last 2x as long. The only bad thing is that it sticks out and can get annoying. But, it lifts your laptop giving it air underneath. i do not think that the 12 cell is unnecessary unless you are traveling with your laptop all the time. (if you were i would recommend the hp dv2000t)
Your welcome, thanks for reading. -
thanks for your opinion! The only reason i am getting a tv tuner is because the dorms i am moving into in the fall semester are kinda small and not really big enough for a tv so i figured id use my laptop to watch tv or whatever on.
-
yeah I guess that is a good idea. I tried setting it up, but I could not find one of the cords. Hmmm.....
Well I hope you enjoy your new laptop! (if you get it)
-
Sounds like your having fun breaking in the new toy...did you find any of my "essential apps" useful? I have the 6-cell battery so I hear ya on wanting a little more juice for the road.
-
wat do u mean by "essential apps?"
-
You customized this laptop and bought it online, right?
-
yeah i bought it from hp.com
-
How did you get your tuner free?
-
hp has different free upgrades, and they change them often.
At the time i bought mine, there was free upgrade to the tv tuner...
now i think there is a free upgrade to the "Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support"
just depends on when you buy it -
just wondering if yours has like that high pitch noise? and what bios are you running it? and if you can write more about the screen, it is the only thing that don't let me choose the dv6000t over fe890.
-
i have had no trouble with any "high pitch noise"
i am just running the same bios as what it came with... except for the beeping sound on the quickplay buttons... is that wat your asking?
and as for the screen, i got the brightview (glossy) screen, it is very nice. I have no bad things to say about it... it is very bright, very clear, good colors, everything looks nice/bright/clear... thats all i can say about it
any questions? -
mermaidprincesses Notebook Enthusiast
Hi- I just bought its sister (or brother) - the compaq d6000t and agree with your sentiments - as Borat would say "It's very NICE!" . I opted for the 12-cell and don't mind it's "butt" sticking up as it does seem to cool the lappy better so it's like geting two benefits in one. I don't travel frequently but I don't like to be tethered to one place in my house either. Btw, IMHO, it does run a touch warm - I had it on my lap wearing shorts and my left leg felt a tad hot (where fan is) but most of the time, it's on the table or floor.
Q: Do you like the notebook case you got for it? -
oh yah i love my case. i didnt want a big case/backpack, or a small notebook "sleeve." so i got a case that is small and thin, but can also fit in your cord, mouse, and some other small accessories. its perfect for my needs. heres a pic of it:
and here is where u can buy it
hope this helps.
