    Hi,
I tried a search and couldn't find the answer. Does anybody know why the size of the mini screen changed from 10.2 to 10.1, the resolution dropped slightly because of that too. I bought one in November with the 10.2 and they are sending a replacement with the 10.1, any reason to just keep the 10.2 and repair it.

    Thanks

    Alex

Was the 10.2" an Infinity screen?

Tell them to send you the correct piece that works with the computer that is of equal or greater value or upgrade your computer to the new model free of charge.

well, it took about 15 calls to India to get it sorted out but out of the box, the AC adapter couldn't power the computer. If you touched it slightly, the power went out. Useable only if you held the ac adapter still, so they say they will ship it out the Ac adapter but it was back ordered until 1/16 and I called right after Christmas when I opened it. So then I saw that costco had the notebook, so I took mine there and tried out their ac adapter and it was a computer problem, not adapter. So they wanted to fix it but I insisted on a new one because I didn't want a defective laptop from the get go. In the end of it all, I ended up saving like $60 because of the price drop but then again. I had hours of aggravation talking to people that had no clue that I can actually go to a store called Costco that sold the laptop and try out their AC adapter.

Searching around, the new 10.1" screen now has a 16:9 ratio like many new laptops, while the older 10.2" was still 16:10.

In an effort to shift all their supplies to the 16:9 standard (as the newly launched Minis all use this screen), HP quietly changed the displays on the original Mini 1000 to the 10.1" version. There are no longer 10.2" models in production, so I doubt they can ever send you one. The 10.1" screens are cheaper too, contributing to the recent price drops.

The part number for the 10.2" display + enclosure is 507310-001, but I doubt they have supply.
