Need advice: I'll be traveling overseas for work and need major portability. I am looking for light, practical, and affordable (under $900). Speed and disk size are of average importance and I prefer XP.
Main usage: Excel, Word, Skype, Wifi, Itunes
    Thanks!

If you can handle the small screen on the Mini-Note (8.9 inches measured diagonally), that would be your best option. It fits your need for "major portability". Plus, it is decently powered to run all those applications without a problem. You can get it with Windows XP. I priced a fully loaded one at $939, but you can probably get a very good build for around $800. It's also got a nearly full size keyboard which is very nice.

Please note that I do not own the HP Mini-Note.
