    Minimum Vista space requirement on hard disk

    You can get Vista premium and Ultimate to under 13Gb and it grows as a result of things such as System Restore. Check into it and you can set the amount of space allowed for System restore and...in fact....

    if you have plenty of RAM, you can even gain a few extra GB by reducing the size of your pagefile.sys. Traditionally it reserves way to much because most systems are set to let Viasta manage the size of the pagefile.

    In fact, you can save even more space through a few of the tweaks i have listed in the tweak thread below my signature block.

    just stop sytem resote to save space but make sure u make backups of your data somewhere else

    The minimum requirement for vista to be installed is 15GB on a 40GB HDD though.

    The size of a HD wouldn't affect this. Thomas can I ask if you have reduced the pagefile size on your HDD? That would bring you down to 13Gb or less.

    I still have some old hard disks in my storage room, some of them only have 6GB, those were so abundant few years ago.

    its still pretty abundant... i use XP :p

    but i hated the fact that Vista used so much space

    Yeah, one single layer DVD can save whole image of OS, now we need to purchase expensive double layer DVD to do the same thing.
