    I bought the 2nd hand Compaq Presario V3005AU, AMD Turion 64x2 T52.
All modules were running perfectly BUT the system couldn't able to activate system recovery using F11 during booting.

And I found that there's no recovery system file in the harddisk drive and
I have no recovery back up also.

    1. Do i need to upload the system recovery to my laptop ? Is this important ?
Or the laptop can run as is without any recovery file just like desktop PC ?
    2. Where I can get or purchase the file ?

    please advise..

System will run normally without the Recovery Partiton also....
You can install all the software & drivers as you do for a Destop..

You will need the drivers, so go to the HO site and download the drivers....

OR you u want the recovery files... you can request for new recovery CD from the support.... they will ask you to pay some bucks and will send the cd to you..

However I personally don't feel that it is required.......

Second hand. The previous person probably did a fresh install and deleted the recovery partition. And the SWSetup directory is probably gone too. Best bet is to original the recovery install disc from HP. It's like $15. It's actually free, what you're paying for is shipping.

The person probably reformated and reinstalled windows. All you need is a windows cd that way you can just do a fresh install of the OS

    OK, thanks for the explanations.

The Windows XP pro has been installed sucessfully, Does the notebook system still need file recovery ?
I am still confuse about the system recovery.

No, the system recovery file is not required for the system to function. Of course since the recovery partition has been deleted the F11 system recovery option will not work and if you want to re-install the OS you will have to use a Windows XP disc and download & install the drivers manually.
