I went ahead and formatted my 4 month old zd8000. I used my own copy of xp pro instead of hp's copy which contains too much crap. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has at least some technical experience. It boots up and shuts down a lot faster. It runs faster and its nice and clean of garbage software I don't need. I'm extremely happy with it now and the only trouble I had was installing the Intel chipset driver which was the only driver I didn't install. Everything else works fine.

I installed Avast antivirus, ZoneAlarm, and Adaware. Now I need to finish securing the windows side and I'll be all set!

I was under the assumption that the OS disc that HP provides only had the OS. At least that's what it looked like when I reinstalled my computer. All the drivers, programs, and other crap was on the second disc.

Yes, it is always nice to have a fresh start. :D

If you keep the computer tuned up (for tips, check out our "How to Optimize a Notebook Computer guide), it will run like that for as long as you take care of it. ;)
