I have been reading the posts about this product, and I need some help. I confess to be addicted to the Links golf games, but the newest version that will still play on a computer (prior to Links' going to X-Box versions only) is 2003, and the graphics for it are really crummy on my Thinkpad i1300. I was considering upgrading the graphics card to the Mobility Radeon X300, but I can't find anywhere on the web if that video card will be compatible with my TP. I also don't know (I'm more software than hardware) how to remove the current video card in the laptop to determine if it's 64-pin or 128-pin (I'm guessing 64?). This TP is limited to 194 RAM, and IBM says the largest hard drive it will work with is the 10GB it came with, but I have successfully installed a new 60GB hard drive on it. I just want to improve the graphics. Is it possible to upgrade this TP i1300 with the Mobility Radeon X300? (If a better Mobility Radeon is recommended, I can get it -- I was just thinking the simplest/"smallest" one would be most likely to work on this virtually obsolete laptop).

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks tolerating a novice.

You can't upgrade the video in your Thinkpad. That trend is only just now starting to happen in the most current laptops, and then only with a very few vendors (I don't even know which ones).

    Sorry. [ :(]

    Russ,

Thanks for letting me know. I know that some newer laptops are installing the Mobility Radeon and the GeForce Go video cards. I was hoping I might be able to sneak it in on my laptop the way I did with the hard drive [ ;)], but, alas! It is not to be [V] -- oh, well, will just play the 2000-2001 Links games. They work "okay." There is a video upgrade on the IBM site which I may try.

Thanks again for taking the time to give me an answer.

    Russ,

Actually I'm closer to Fayetteville than J'boro, in spite of our "legal" address.

The IBM upgrade must have been for earlier versions of Windows XP than I have on my laptop (which I also just found out is supposed to be running Windows ME only -- wonder how long it'll be before it crashes . . . . ), because when I downloaded it and tried to install it, I was advised I already had it. I over-wrote it anyway, just in case it was simply a file with the same name, but when I checked the game, there was no change.

    Thanks for your help.
