My HP Pavilion dv9700t has horizontal lines flickering on the screen. I just read about the defective 8400M and 8600M cards and am worried. This is exactly what happened to my Dell Inspiron 1520 (the video card died a few days before the warranty expired- luckily got it repaired and then sold it on ebay). Does anyone know if I could get a refund (even if there is a restocking fee) due to the defective video card? Thanks. I'm thinking about getting a desktop next time around with all of these notebook gpu issues.

I tried hooking a Dell E176FP 17" Flat Panel up to it and it still flickers, however, it is not as apparent, since it is not a glossy screen. I had this happen to my old XPS 410 however I had to move some cables that were resting on the Nvidia Geforce 7950GX2 card. What do you recommend?
