I was doing some researching online and HP's website said my dv8000 will only support up to 2GB of RAM. However, Intel's website says the 945PM Express chipset supports up to 4GB of RAM. Will more than 2GB work? Here are the links to HP and Intel.

    Intel Here

So what is up with the conflict of information? Any help is appreciated (especially from users w/ dv8000 and tried to upgrade past 2GB)

Your motherboard comes into play too. It may support only 1GB/slot.

Also, although the 945 chipset supports 4GB of memory, it will only allow 3-3.25GB to be used. Additionally, you need 64 bit Windows to use more than 2.8GB.

Ahh..the motherboard. That explains it. Thanks for the help. I guess I can't go past 2GB then.
