After resolving the shipping issues... my lappy got in!
But now it's acting really slow... I'm having a hard time deleting their ****py software... it locks up for periods of time etc..
Well, I did a dxdiag to check a few things and...
"Memory: 382MB RAM"
I paid for 512... is there some sort of shared memory that's figured in? I don't want to raise more hell with tech support if I'm just being an idiot.... which is highly possible.
Anyone have a clue?

I guess your video uses 128MB of share memory which is common for V2000z.
-
yea... but the part I choose (vid card) says...
" ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M with 32MB shared video memory"
Does anyone have a v2000z who can dxdiag themselves and check if it says the same thing? -
I would suggest getting some more ram off of new egg. Just get another 512MB stick. The x200 uses system memory.
Have you installed ccleaner. That might help you remove some of that junk.

I have the same notebook and exact graphics solution. Graphics RAM is defaulted to 128MB. Go into the BIOS to change this number to 64 or 32. I have also upgraded with an additional 512MB stick of RAM of newegg. I know it's not the cheapest, but it is dang reliable. I have it in addition to the slower factory stick and it still runs flawlessly, 0 errors in both sticks using memtest.

Okay here is how to check to see how much ram your laptop is using for vram.
1)Go to the start menu and click control panel
2)Then click display
3)Click on the settings tab
4)Then click advanced
5)Then click the adapter tab
This should show how much ram it is using.

I personally would keep it at 128MB of vram and just buy another stick off of new egg. You might as well get the top performace out of the card you paid for.

Buy one or two of these:
Crucial PC3200 1GB SODIMM
Newegg has them on sale at the moment. I have two of these in my dv8000z. At today's prices you definitely want PC3200 in shared video memory notebooks like the V2000z. Dump the PC2700 stuff HP included on eBay, or hang onto it in case you need to send the machine in for warranty repair (HP is not always good about returning machines with their upgrades intact). -
That's just too much money for something I don't really need. I'm not doing much with this thing...
But I'll probably end up buying a 512 stick... sigh *whores herself out for 30$* -
More trouble with my custom v2000z
