    PLEASE HELP
For the past 1 week, my Hp dv2000z will not come on when i close the lid and open it later and also when i restart from windows it will shut down but cant will not start. The power lights (and all other lights) come on like its suppose to, but i never see the bios screen. The hard disk does not seem to be doing anything during this time.
The weird part is how to make it start.... i have to do the following tricks at random..
    1. take out the power supply, remove battery, push and hold the power button before putting everything back and turn on the pc.
    2. open the cd-drive and start...or close it again if the it still wont start
    3. open and close the lip several times before turning the pc on.

I do not know how or why but after doing the above tricks (sometimes severals times) the laptop will suddenly turn on. Once its on everything works like normal. No over-heating, no problems.

I re-installed or flashed my bios from Hp, but nothing changed.

Please Help. I'm totally clueless about this problem.

    Thanks in advance

It sounds like it is either the internal power supply or the motherboard that is the problem. Is your laptop still under warranty?

Well, there in a pressure sensitive switch (by hinge, usually) that will cause the computer to power down when you close the lid. This is a physical switch that speaks to the bios and windows.

It could be sticking and all the jiggling your doing is unsticking it, or it could be malfunctioning and when you pull the battery and depress the power switch, you are purging the cmos settings and resetting the "off" condition to a default on.

Tough to say without looking at it.

Doesn't sound like power to me, but it could be the dcdc switch....what if you connect the computer to an external monitor?

No, i dont still have warranty.
gerrf19.... thanks, but if its the switch, then it will restart normally when i restart from windows (without closing the lid) but it doesn't.
It appears that anytime the computer goes off or (hypernate or stand-by), it refuses to start. I dont think its windows because the pc doesn't even boot. The most likely problem will be bios...i think but i've already re-intalled the bois from Hp.

    Please guys.. help!!!!

If you are using windows vista on your notebook
have you installed sp1 there are known sleep issues(such as powering on after pc has been in sleep or hybernation mode) and you may try downloading the service pack
