    Hi,
I need to replace the Mobo on CQ58 due to display back light failure. I know it didn't come from the display or the LVDS as i tried with other parts and the problem is still occurring.

So first, does the back light power come from the mobo ?
Secondly, what NbDmiFit i need to apply to retattoo the board ?

    Thanks kindly for your replies.

    1. Yes.
    2. Haven't the foggiest; can't decipher the question.
But if you meant ' How?', then just disassemble the lot. A mb swap needs an almost complete teardown, there's no way around that. It isn't that difficult, only a lot of screws and cables to disconnect. Remember that human hands assembled it at one point, so the reverse is similarly possible (unless they've glued it together, like with some Apples).

    ps.
Do make sure to test with another LVDS cable, if you haven't already. Mb failure is possible, but cable failures are rampant, at least 10:1 vs. backlight-specific mb defect.

    pps.
Might also do a simple check to see if the lcd-close switch is malfunctioning. If that thing were to be stuck in the 'off' setting then the result would be indistinguishable from a defective backlight, even persisting after exchanging the screen and cable. A new mb would fix it then, but the switch is at most $1, so ...

    Hi,

LVDS cable is brand new, regarding the LCD switch i don't know about it.
Where is it located on a CQ58 ?

Check where the magnet is located behind the bezel, the reed switch will be opposite of the magnet when the lid is closed. Could hover small piece of metal along the outside of the bezel in order to find its location, no need to remove the bezel then.

    Hi,
I went through the entire maintenance and service guide manual for the notebook and it seems that there is no magnet include in the bezel.
So, i'll go for the mobo change and keep you updated when done !
