hey all, my hp pavillion dv2000t has been great so far.

recently the scrolling area on the right-hand side of the touch sensitive mouse pad no longer works (ie. it just moves the mouse cursor instead of scrolling). anyone have any ideas why and how i can fix this? thanks.

hmmm a simple reboot seems to have solved the problem. lol

still why would this happen? i noticed the little synaptics thingy in the bottom right hand corner had disappeared. now it's back. guess it's just a software glitch?

You've closed it unintentionally. If the icon distracts you, it can be hidden from the options of the main window or from Control panel.

My daughter is having the same problem with her new dv2000t notebook, that is, the scroll feature stops working after a while. It's happened several times, so last night I went to the HP website and downloaded and installed the latest Synaptic touchpad driver, and rebooted. Everything was working fine for a while, but then it stopped working again. I don't know how she would be unintentionally closing the Synaptic's program through the taskbar, but if it happens again, I'll have her check to see if the icon has disappeared. If it has disappeared, what could be causing the the program to terminate?

the program cud be closing due to an unknown error in the application, or it could be there just not showing up if say explorer crashes.

best thing to do here is eihter leave it as is or uninstall and remove every file installed for that program/driver then reinstall as a clean/first time install (u might need to use a usb mouse for that in case the touchpad stops working)
