I was looking into getting a remanufactured nc6400 from hp, and I saw a model that was acceptable on a all accounts save the hard drive size. The specs list it as having a multibay II drive that is swappable. I would like to add additional storage through that port, but i am somewhat confused as to the options I have. Can I only use the multibay hard drives sold through hp? They seem exorbitantly expensive for the sizes offered, and I would like to know if there are any other options. The multibay II seems like a nice idea, but only if the hard drives for it don't have to be proprietary. Any ideas?

Some time ago I came across a German company called Toscha Informationssysteme, which offers MultiBay II HDD Adapters. These should accommodate any regular ULTRA-ATA 2.5" drive. Have a look at their website. They’re not cheap either (94 EUR ~ 125 USD), but you may be able to get a better deal on eBay (just search for user id "einbaurahmen"). Currently, there is one for sale here.

Final remark -> I don’t have any personal experience with these adapters and their usability. If you have any questions, I suggest that you contact the seller first.
