    Hello everyone!

I have a DV8000t. Good laptop overall, although there are problems with the keyboard. I dont know if they're the same as everyone else's.

It started couple of months ago when the sound suddenly disappeared. I was like - okay, it must be something wrong with the copy of windows, let me just reinstall it. However, the problem still exists.

Okay, so the issue is that I either have working sound control buttons on top, but no audio, or audio, but no way to contol it. When windows normally boots up, the buttons seem to be able to control volume output (the icon that is normally in the lower left hand corner), but no sound. In order to make sound work, I have to uninstall the drivers, then install them again. The media buttons stop working, but the sound works. There is no way to control it, it is at its default volume (probably 50%).

Anyone else has this problems? Any solutions? Thanks very much in advance!

    Regards,

    V$

    *BUMP*

Just in case anyone was wondering - reinstalling windows does not help. Do you think its just a software problem or a serious hardware issue? THanks!

Well I can't help you too much. I have a Compaq V5000z. After I installed Nero Ultra edition, it changed many things in my system and now the audio buttons at the top don't work, nor can I hear audio when watch videos in a browser (youtube, aol, etc).

Audio works perfectly if I'm playing a song or a video in a regular player, though.

If you left-click (once) the speaker icon in your systray, you should get a small pop up to adjust volume and mute/unmute. Is the slider set all the way to the top? Is the mute box unchecked?

After checking, just click anywhere outside that box to close it.

If that doesn't help, are there any conflicts showing up in your Device Manager?
