I am interested in knowing how does the Envys(15,14,17) perform doing the task that they are advertised/ build for, "Music production/ DJ's"?

I possibly have seen every review and no one has mentioned anything about envy's intended audience "Music production/ DJ's". The main reason i want to get this computer is the simple fact that i can do my school work, practice DJing, live DJing and produce mixtapes of be DJing. That is like 80 percent of what i will be doing. I don't want a MBP becuse i am not a fan. However, what puts the Envy above the other window base laptops out there? Also, if someone can share their story about DJing on their envy or any kind of Music production i would be great full.

    Thanks.

I don't know about music production, but the sound quality is very good. NBR member moviemarketing has an Envy 15 and he deems it suitable for DJ'ing (something about sound latency or whatever being low enough for live DJing) and/or music production. I don't think the Envy 14 would be much different.

Running this program will give an idea of whether or not it is suitable for live DJing. Low latency is key. Otherwise, you can end up with unintentional and embarrassing skips during a live performance.

    DPC Latency Checker

Macs running OS X tend to have very low latency but running win7 in bootcamp on a Mac introduces moderate latency that can be an occasional issue with very high quality samples or some software.
