About 4 or 5 times now I have woken up in the morning and heard my computer fan going and the computer sitting at the windows login screen. I think it usually happens when I hibernate rather than shut down before going to bed the night before. I have checked windows scheduled tasks which had nothing, my virus scan is set to check at 8PM fridays, and media center isn't trying to record any TV programs. Does anyone have any idea at all what else might be causing my computer to start up, or any way I can figure it out?

    TIA

Might be that the Wake On Lan is enabled on your network card to "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby."

No wake on LAN is enabled. Haven't ruled out the ghosts yet...

Well it happened again last night, even after trying a bunch of new things. The common link seems to be that it only happens when the computer is placed in Hibernate mode.

Could be the MCE TV Guide trying to download updates. The Event viewer should log when it does this.

There is a utility to change the time that it does this. Or a registry setting to disable. Look for something about Guide under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center.

Unplug the power adaptor before you go to bed. I don't know why this solves the problem, but it does. Started happening on my DV2000 after I updated the BIOS.
