    hi everyone,

i've bought a new dv2000t laptop a week ago , till now it works fine but the thing that worries me is about its graphics memory size, as you know it is GF 7200 128mb, the thing is i have saw on the officail page of it on HP website that it says that this 128 is 32 dedicated and 96 shared form the ram

i am so worry about that bcz i had a chance to buy a dv5000t with less price and a 256 mb GF 7400 and 15" screen rather than the 14" in the dv2000

    my specfics is:
    2.0 GHz Core Due
    2.0 GB Ram
    120 HDD SATA

and the common rest you know

the big question will it run VISTA Prenium Requerments (Aero 3D and Glasses Windows) smoothly or not??????

also if any one know which better the chip GF 7200 or 7400 in the dv5000

i thought that as it is a new model will be better than the others older

plzz replay if you can, i know it is too late bcz i've already bought it but i need to get sure i was or wasn't right about my selection :(

:) one last thing is about the battery life it is just stays about 2 hours and not exceeding even to 2:30 is this normal ???

thnx again and i'm looking forward to see your good replays.

well the 7400 is a better card than the 7200 no doubt (usually higher number is newer/better model with gfx cards) and 32mb is dedicated while 96 is shard but from vista aero 3rd specs you should be able to runa aeroglass fine but any new games like oblivion, fear, you probably wont have good luck with :p older games should be fine though.

If you are really dissatisfied you could look into returning it and buying another model. HP should take it back within a month.

I believe you will be OK though for Vista aeroglass.

Other than high end gaming the Go7200 should handle Vista quite well. IF you want better gaming experience then get a laptop with the best graphics card.

As for the battery life ~2hrs:30mins seems normal for the 6 cell battery and the Go 7200. Get the 12 cell battery if you want even more battery life.

If you go to nVidia's website, you will see it assuring customers that this line of graphics cards will indeed support Vista. Quote: "And since all GeForce Go 7 Series GPUs are designed to support Microsoft® Windows Vista™ — Microsoft’s next-generation operating system (OS) — you can rest assured that you’ll be enjoying your notebook PC well into the future." (via here.)

On my blog recently, a guy claiming to be a developer for Microsoft wanted the hardware ID of the 7200 on my machine in order to see if Microsoft had Vista-compatible drivers from nVidia for the Go 7200 graphics card. Here's what he said:

"Can you look in Device Manager and post the hardware ID for the Go 7200 graphics adapter? I'm trying to confirm that a Vista driver exists for the dv2000t before I purchase one....Just to clarify, since I said I work for Microsoft -- I don't speak for the company and I can't guarantee anything. But I want to buy this laptop for my personal use and I want Vista to work on it. NVidia's web page indicates that the Go 7200 will support Vista, but I haven't yet found an actual driver that already exists. It may well appear between now and Vista shipping without me doing anything."

Be reassured that A.) nVidia claims the cards are compatible, and B.) there is at least one Microsoft developer who is going to make sure it works with Vista.

    Hope that helps you.
