    Sorry, first post.
I am having a problem with my DV6t monitor! This morning, I dropped it in class and the monitor has cracked. There is black and white lines all over the screen!
I need to get it replaced but I'm out of HP's warranty.
Sending it in would cost too much money.
What is the best possible way to get a new screen for this computer!

My screen is 15.6inch at 1366x768px resolution.

I did some research on engadget and trustedreview.com and I read that ebay has the hdx16t monitors at the same resolution of 1366x768px. Is it possible that I can just buy that hdx16t monitors from ebay and fit that into the dv6t? They practically look like the same computer but the paint job is different.
Only problem is that the hdx16t is a 16 inch monitor though.
    1) Will it fit the dv6t?
    2) Is the 15.6 inch a marketing scheme to set it apart from the 16 inch?
    3) Has anyont tried this before? Buying a hdx16t monitor and putting in the dv6t? Are there cables and wires I need to get that the hdx16t has that the dv6t don't have?

Any suggestions would help. I cannot see anything on my monitor!

I am not sure if the HDX16t is really 16 inch at all. Which then I would question the dv6t as well. I don't know if the DV6t is/or is not 15.6 inches.

They are practically identical, however, their screens are advertised as different size, a 0.4 inch difference.

I would like to know as well. I guess you should try to take the notebook and compare them at Costco.
Can anyone shed light on this?
