Heh, maybe if I were 10 years older I might be able to relate, lol.

My Case Manager said it had to be somewhat similar to the previous notebook I had, but I think he pushed it quite a bit really. I'm pretty satisfied with what we agreed upon, and I guess I'll post my before and after specs after my CM calls me telling me it's been ordered.

If he tells you the specifications and he said that it will be ordered, then those will be the final specs. Just post em anyways!

I wouldn't put much stock in Infamous22's claim for such a wonderful upgrade. He never has a bad thing to say about HP (see previous posts) and seems to be privy to all sorts of inside information. He even gets personally offended when someone makes an adverse comment about HP. My guess is he works for HP. Or maybe his last name is Hewlett or Packard.

I was nice to all of my case managers and never got anywhere. I found them unreliable (would never call back when they said they would), unethical (accused me of causing damage done by HP repair), deceptive (told me product is out of warranty when it was not) and greatly lacking in technical knowledge. Also, you still cannot contact them in writing. They will not give out personal e-mail addresses or fax numbers - just general ones that they say may or may not get to them. Obviously, this is designed so there is no paper trail.

    Lol.

He does seem to love HP a lot though...and a $2900 system seems pretty crazy for what he started with.

    *shrug*

    This is the internetz, remember?

It's his word against mine. I enjoy helping fellow HP owners. I'm a satisfied customer and the only thing I could complain about is the Indian support.

Just because I had a good experience with them, you think I am an HP employee? I'm fond of HP. they've done me good and kept me happy as a company should. I'm sorry they didn't help you as they did with me. Haven't you ever owned something you enjoy so much that you cherish it a lot aside from your loved one? Guys like technology and fast things. Wouldn't you have pride in a nice sports car? I have pride in HP and my HP products.

I don't get offended by another person's comments. I may disagree with them. Sometimes I just don't see how it's possible for people like you to have such a bad experience with them. It still amazes me. There's got to be something you are doing wrong with them. You might just have bad luck.

I received my laptop today! Packing slip looks perfect, I have decided to sell it and use the money towards the 2.8 dv7t that I ordered. The extra battery it came with on the other hand, I will be keeping as you never know when it will come in handy (especially for free). If your looking for a new laptop check out the great deal in the BST forum I am offering!!

Thanks everyone here for all your suggestions and support during this long drawn out process, and thanks for putting up with my craziness!

    Ken

Well it only took 8 months to get a proper replacement for my DOA laptop. I would have to say it was not satisfactory at all. I grew tired of this battle, in the end lets see...

I sold my replacement laptop on ebay and bought the one that I wanted. Personally I don't see anything positive in the way HP Case Management handled this. If I had to describe case management as a whole...Arrogance

I bought another HP hoping that I never have to talk to case management again.

    "somewhat satisfactorily"

You sold the laptop and restarted your relationship with HP. You're a new man!

Well just one last follow up to this saga...

I received my new dv7t laptop and soon realized that my old xb3000 docking station was not compatible with the dv7t. Everything would function except the docking station would not charge the laptop.

So I dug out my receipts with my fingers crossed...Sure enough the docking station was on the same receipt as my dv9500t which was replaced by case management with the dv9700t (twice) and a dv7t. SO I called up my case manager Terry not holding my breath but it was worth a try. I leave a message around 5pm but she was on another call, but she called me first thing the next morning and I explain my dilemma stating how I didn't know if there was anything she could do for me but... She immediately ordered a xb4 docking station and sent it via next day air to me.

So now I am officially "Satisfied"

Thank you Terry for being the only capable case manager I dealt with!

LOL. What a battle. But in the end, you do seem quite satisified.

I don't know how it is over there in the states (I'm assuming that all/most of you are in the US.), but I'm in Canada.

Repairs and Case management work just fine here. I never get any Indian telephone reps.

My last repair had a mind-boggling turn around time of less than 24 hours! (excluding shipping).

Case management replaces laptops with barely asking questions.

However, they failed to grant me my DOA on my last replacement laptop, so now, 7 months later, I'm getting this one replaced - so far pretty smooth with plenty of upgrades.
