Ive had this laptop (specs in sig) for about a month. Its been a dream, minus the fact it needs a fresh install of vista, and has taken my classroom experience to a new level (I now wish I had a tablet for undergrad work). I would take notes, then flip the screen around and do some coding and flip it back for more notes and sometimes play some games on it. I had finally found the perfect laptop 12in + tablet + light gamer + good multi-tasker all in one affordable package. Everything was great...until last night.

I powered on the laptop to try a sweet HP dock my mom had laying around and before it could resuming windows from hibernation it shut down. I tried powering it on and no luck. So I went through the HP diag and came to the conclusion the motherboard is done, and after a semi short phone call to HP they said the same thing. Now I must admit I was scared to call tech support not only being an IT guy, but also the horror stories I have heard. I was basically worried that they were going to be jerks and say oh well you have to pay$XXX to fix it. But all this was put to rest when I connected to tech support. The guy was polite, and even started some small talk with me. He was surprised that it broke so soon and apologized about it, and said that they are shipping a box ASAP to get it fixed. Aside from the fact that it could be gone for up to two weeks and that my new laptop that I depend on broke, it was a pleasant experience. So instead of taking my 12in on the go I have my dell (which I love, but carrying around a 12in is a lot better then a 17in tank) to lug around.

Anyone else have similar good experiences with HP customer service?

yikes, your motherboard is the problem? good luck getting that back in 2 weeks. mine broke too and they've been waiting on it and/or motherboard PARTS for the longest time. got delayed 3x before they just gave me a new replacement. :( i hope it works out alot faster and smoother for you!

HP support is only horrible for the people that don't know what they're doing.

You do. Annoy them everyday, who cares? It's a shame the mobo went out on it though.

Yeah Im pretty upset about the fact that it died so soon, yet my dell has literally been running 24/7 doing heavy tasks and no problems. ::knocks on wood:: But I think I just got a lemon personally. I cant wait to get it back though.

Ill probably make a new thread if there is an issue. Basically if I have any real issues Ill seek a refund or replacement. I have no patience for a company messing my my rig after I spent a lot of money on it. But I have a good feeling everything will be ok.
