    does the IR wave receiver for the remote next to the headphone jacks act as an actual IR wave receiver or does it only recognize the remote's IR?

    remotes IR, unless you have modified drivers. The Quicklaunch drivers is whats controlling the port by default thats why it can communicate with the xpress card remote.

    But i can be wrong, no ones really tried doing such.

    i'll give it a go today, but the problem is, it'll take loads of googling to find software for this exact IR device. naa 4get it :p
