Does it bother anybody else that the HP L2000’s think they are Compaq V2000’s? Don’t believe it just click the property tab under “My Computer”.

I know that HP and Compaq are the same company and I am not naive enough to think that the complementary units do not flow down the same assembly lines, but gosh you would think that they could drop in the code for an HP bios splash screen and other areas so that the branding is the same where ever you look on the unit.

It is like getting into a GMC pickup and having a chevy bowtie staring back at you from the steering wheel hub.

I am not going to return the little box of highly refined sand over the issue (or non-issue), but it just seems to be a half hearted effort for a “Special Edition”.

I realize that the L2000 market date was meant to coincide with the TdF so they may have rushed some to hit the deadline, but if they scrimped in such visible areas where else did they cut corners on the thing.

Now if anyone would like to provide some cheese with my whine, I thank you.

In case you don't want to click through...the gist is that it was easier to use the Compaq BIOS, etc than to customize one that says HP.

Well, you got your "special edition", because rest of the HP & Compaq models have their own repective brand name BIOS & logo's. :p :D
