My laptop orginally came with the P8400. It is okay, better then most of the CPUs out there but it was not enough for me. I've had plans for a Extreame CPU, but I then relaised I need to do something with my tempratures before that.

I did basicly upgrade my CPU, repast the Thermal Paste the the same time. I did not follow any guide, and this DV5 is one of the more easy laptops I've opned.

I did use Noctua NT-H1 as thermal paste, and it is quite good. I have used it before on my Qosmio and my ASUS. I did not take any pictures while doing this as I assume everyone has seen what a laptop looks like inside.

I've however have idle tempratures of my laptop after repasting. Everyone on this forum I think knows that most of the HP's have heat issues, my laptop was one of those before, but not anymore.

Here is my tempratures. This is just after repasting, I've also done other things to bring my tempratures down, you can find those at post 5.

For the 3th antenna, I've did this at same time as well. The antenna is placed right to the side of the BIOS battery. The cable is going from somwhere under the chipset to WiFi card. I've test with only my new added antenna and it was useable with only that but even better with all 3 ;)

My GPU is overclocked with nTune, stable.

Max temprature after few matches on NukeTown is 90C, before 'hardmod' it was 96C.

Futher project; Flash it into vBIOS (Don't know if it is even possible)

I did like my results with repasting, actually. But I've wanted to do even more! I then did some search about the keyboard. The Right corner was getting very very hot. Almost uncomfortable. I then did some searchs and found this therad.

I've tryed this and see that this actually does help a lot. However, I did this a little bit diffrent and this did actually help cooling down my keyboard. My tempratures under load went fromabout 96C to 83C (chipset).

I strongly recommend this if you also want a cool keyboard. I've did not cut as 'L' as the guy in linked therad above did, but actually removed it all half way, untill the connector.

Again, I did not take pictures it is nothing to see :D

    UPDATE:
I've did some more testing about this which dropped my tempratures with another C.

I've removed the whole plastic, just left a square where the cable is.

However, for anyone who wants to do this, be carefull, don't spell anything on your keyboard, it would go right through to your motherboard, which is not a good thing.

I've finally got some time and did this. I've removed the stock HP feets :)D) and did replaced them with a plastic meterial which is a bit higher. This dropped my max temprature on GPU from 94C (actually, seen 98Cs under GTA IV) to 90C (with keyboard mod).

I'll post pictures later, it is not finished yet. Just some experimental gaming at the moment :D
