For a couple of days now, my Compaq Presario V3019US at completly random times just restarts. The screen turns black, flashes white for a moment and then the computer just automatically restarts.

Windows XP sent an error report to Microsoft which says its the video driver at fault. It sugessted to get new drivers and/or disable hardware acceleration. I did the latter but it still restarts and I can't find the drivers on Nvidia's website. I have the Geforce Go 6150.

Anyone else had this problem? Should I just reformat the computer?

Official notebook video drivers are provided by the OEM, HP in this case, not directly from nVidia. It looks like the drivers on HP.com haven't been updated from the initial release. The only interesting update I see is a newer BIOS, which probably isn't relevant in your case but you might want to flash it in (unplug all USB devices and set your Power Scheme to Always On to disable power management first). I'd put that last on your list of things to try.

Let's start with something more general. Burn and boot MemTest86+ and let it run for at least half an hour. Bad memory will cause all kinds of maddening problems. Also do the usual virus/spyware/worm sweep. Core Temp will tell you what your CPU temp is, which will help eliminate overheating as a problem source.

There's a lot to be said for doing clean Windows installs... but I'd at least check the memory before doing that.

If you're looking for drivers, try www.omegadrivers.net, which has both Nvidia and ATI drivers for ALL graphics cards. They are also optimized for gaming.

Welcome To the world of V3019US! I have the same problem running windows, but when I run Puppy linux thing runs like a champ. My guess is its software related because puppy runs entirely in ram and if it were ram puppy wouldn't run at all. Good luck! If all else fails sell your lappy on craigslist and by a mac ;)
