I am very happy today. After thinking my laptop wouldn't ship until Feb 8, I checked the tracking number and it said I would get my laptop on THURSDAY THE 9. YEAH :hp:![]()

Yeah, I just ordered 2GB of ram from newegg, a laptop cooler (I don't have time for specifics but I will post it later), Halo
, a mouse, and two usb cables for my printers.
Oh yeah, I also got another copy of BF2 off ebay for $38 with shipping.
I had better get to work.

Awesome! I ordered my V2000z back in Jan and it also said it would be built by 8th Feb. Checked the order today and it finally had a tracking number!! So it left Shanghai a couple of days earlier!! Woohoo!!
I've gotta get my RAM order from the Egg too now...
Nothing better than unwrapping a present to yourself!!! -
Yeah, my laptop just arrived this morning
. One day early. I will do a review some time this weekend since this is a busy week and I haven't recieved my ram from newegg
. All I can say is its a awsome laptop, even though you get alot of crapware to slow down your computer
. At least hp/compaq has enough sense to give you a windows XP disc and drivers disc. THANK YOU HP
!!!
Now I better get back to school and stop messing with my laptop.

Hey! Congrats!! Its a great laptop. I haven't regretted buying it for a single moment.
There are a couple heads-up though..
1) The BIOS is the latest version (F.04), so new it isn't even on the Compaq website yet.. Be sure you don't accidently downgrade it, because you won't be able to upgrade it. Because you can't download the BIOS that your laptop arrives with from HP's website yet.
2) Even though the BIOS is new, some of the drivers on the system and on the driver CD are a bit old. Grab the latest ATI driver from the Support/Drivers section of HP's website. If you get it from ATI's website, then you will have problems when closing the lid (The laptop won't go into standby or won't come back from standby, I forget which). I was surprised to learn that even though my v4000t arrived a few weeks ago, it was equipped with Mobility X700 drivers dated back to March '05. I got the October drivers from the HP site. Haven't noticed any difference with the new drivers.
Of course... I don't game much. According to mobile meter, it looks like the X700, when running in the PowerPlay (max battery) mode is a few degrees cooler. The fan doesn't come on at all now when I run the laptop off of batteries. I get about 120+ Frames per second average in Quake 3 Arena in Max Battery Mode.. And over 200+ frames per second in max performance mode (PowerPlay off). This of course is at the highest graphics settings Quake 3 Arena can do. Pretty crazy to see that kind of graphics horsepower on a laptop isn't it? -
Yeah, I accidently made that mistake with the bios. Luckily a few other problems warranted a return and I'm waiting on my new system to ship now.
Sidicas, does your screen flicker (it seems like it's switching resolutions a couple times) at the bios screen when booting up? I noticed this before reverting to the f.03 bios. Didn't do it after flashing the bios. -
It only flickers once, and then again when windows is starting up. It also flickers when X server for Linux is starting up..
I'm still using F.04 I don't think its a problem.
My V4000t Is On Its Way!!!
